NEAL H. MAYERSON, PH. D.
Chief Executive Officer - The Mayerson Company
Neal Mayerson derives his unique set of talents from his varied professional experiences as an entrepreneur, businessman, philanthropist and clinical psychologist. His early career as a clinical psychologist honed his understanding of people and trained him to appreciate the importance of metrics for managing success, while his 21 years of business tutelage from his father “Manny” Mayerson, known as an icon in the real estate business, have resulted in his reputation as a creative, insightful, and pragmatic leader with a track record of successes.
Under his leadership since 1991 the company has orchestrated many real estate acquisitions, ground-up developments, and successful exits across a broad array of real estate assets - commercial, retail, and residential (multifamily and single-family homes). He also leads the company’s management of family business affairs and non-real-estate investments. He founded the first Internet-based health coaching company which was successfully sold to Humana Healthcare, setting the stage for what is now a robust market of person-to-person life coaching and psychotherapy services delivered via the Internet. His seemingly endless curiosity, creativity and passion has led to various other projects including catalyzing the establishment of hand sanitizers as a consumer-product category by introducing Purell hand sanitizer to the consumer market in the early 2000 and producing an award-winning musical tribute CD underscoring the historically important role this studio played in the birth of rock and roll music.
Further, during the 1990’s and forward to today, Neal has led the growth and activities of the Mayerson Foundations, earning them the reputation of being innovative and catalytic. In his capacity of President of the Mayerson Foundations Neal has played an instrumental role in the founding and management of multiple successful non-profit organizations and foundation-run programs. For example, Mayerson Academy successfully operated as a non-profit professional development organization for 30 years, and Mayerson Center for Safe and Healthy Children has been serving neglected and abused children since 2001.
As a psychologist Dr. Mayerson is well known internationally for his 20+ years of work helping to establish the field of “positive psychology” which focuses on understanding how humans flourish despite their suffering. He founded the non-profit VIA Institute on Character (www.viacharacter.org) which has been operating since 2000 and its survey of positive personality strengths has been completed over 35 million times in 42 languages by people in every country.
Needless to say, Neal has a broad repertoire of experiences and skills such that whatever he gets involved with has a good likelihood of succeeding.
ADAM S. MAYERSON
Chief Operating Officer - The Mayerson Company
Chief Executive Officer - Sugar n’ Spice Diner
Adam is a fourth-generation businessman in the Mayerson family and grateful for the informal education in business and entrepreneurship that he has been surrounded by since childhood. Adam worked in the restaurant industry for 9 years in Chicago for a pan-Asian chain based in Chicago. After working every job in the restaurant from the kitchen, to serving, he spent 4 years managing one of the more successful locations and then was promoted to work in the corporate office. Adam worked directly with the COO, CFO, VP of Operations and Director of Marketing for the next 5 years as their “go to” person to execute all tasks associated with running the company from the home office level. During those years the company did a merger acquisition with another restaurant chain based in Chicago taking the company from 14 locations to 28 locations overnight. This move positioned the company to raise capital for growth. The company moved into growth mode for opening locations using each brand. Adam played a core role in the corporate opening team for each location, opening 9 locations within 2 years.
Adam knew after working various part-time jobs for the family business and charitable foundation during high school that he wanted to eventually work with the family business at some point in his life. In 2014, he moved back to Cincinnati to work for The Mayerson Company where he has led projects of building residential homes and multifamily apartments. During the difficult period of the pandemic, he led the ground-up development of 130 luxury apartments, which has stabilized at near full occupancy. He also leads the property management operations which include the family’s 530,000+ square foot premiere Class A office building in the downtown office market – Scripps Center (www.scrippscenter.com). Further, he has managed family-owned commercial-industrial and retail properties and quarterbacked a number of successful sales and acquisitions. Adam has quickly developed a reputation as a smart and fair businessman with enormous creativity and commitment to uphold the hard-earned reputation of his family. This growing reputation was recognized by the Cincinnati business community when he was awarded the prestigious “40 under 40” designation. The company is focused on growth specifically with multifamily development and acquisitions, as well as bringing the Sugar n’ Spice Diner brand to a growing number of markets. His vision established the second restaurant in downtown Cincinnati in 2019, which, despite being opened mid-pandemic, is quite successful. His expansion to a third location in Blue Ash was informed by a deep, first-hand understanding of how restaurants grow successfully.
