OUR TEAM

  • Neal H. Mayerson, PH.D

    CHAIRMAN

Neal Mayerson is the Chairman and lead principal of The Mayerson Company, leading the firm's real estate acquisitions, developments, and investments since 1991. Under his stewardship, the company has orchestrated a broad portfolio of ground-up developments, acquisitions, and successful exits across commercial, retail, and multifamily assets. Neal's approach to business is shaped by an unusually wide lens — he is simultaneously an entrepreneur, clinical psychologist, and philanthropist, and that combination produces a leader who is analytically rigorous, deeply people-oriented, and creatively fearless. His ventures beyond real estate have included founding the first internet-based health coaching company, later sold to Humana, and playing a catalytic role in bringing Purell hand sanitizer to the consumer market. As a psychologist, he is internationally recognized for his foundational work in positive psychology and founded the VIA Institute on Character, whose character strengths survey has been completed more than 35 million times across 42 languages. He also leads the Mayerson Foundation, whose impact spans decades of philanthropic innovation in education, child welfare, and community development. Neal's breadth of experience is not incidental to his business acumen — it is the source of it.

  • Adam S. Mayerson

    CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

Adam is a fourth-generation member of the Mayerson business family, and third to lead The Mayerson Company. He brings both an entrepreneurial foundation and a decade of corporate operational experience to his role at The Mayerson Company. Since joining the firm in 2014, Adam has led ground-up development, acquisitions, and asset management across residential, multifamily, and commercial properties. His project leadership includes the development of luxury apartments as well as oversight of Scripps Center, the family's 530,000+ square foot Class A office tower in downtown Cincinnati. Adam has also quarterbacked a number of successful acquisitions and dispositions, and oversees the firm’s holdings. Known as a smart, fair, and creative dealmaker, his growing reputation in the Cincinnati business community was recognized with a "40 Under 40" designation. With the firm's current focus squarely on development and acquisitions, Adam is a driving force behind its next chapter of growth.

  • Daniel J. Lipson

    CHIEF DEVELOPMENT OFFICER

Danny brings more than 30 years of senior leadership across real estate investment, development, and asset management, with direct involvement in nearly $2 billion in transactions spanning multi-family, retail, and mixed-use environments. His career has encompassed the full project lifecycle — from site acquisition, capital structuring, and entitlement through construction, stabilization, and long term operations — including leadership roles on landmark civic and institutional assets such as Millennium Park and Cook County Hospital. His deepest expertise lies in the apartment sector, where he has held C-suite/partner roles at two of Cincinnati's most recognized multifamily firms. Known for clear-eyed risk assessment, creative problem solving, and the ability to align complex stakeholder interests, Danny has earned the sustained trust of institutional partners, lenders, and high-net-worth investors who value consistency, transparency, and sound judgment.

OUR FOUNDERS

Manuel D. Mayerson was a visionary, creative, hardworking, and optimistic businessman with a huge positive personality, as well as being a loving, dedicated family man and engaged community member. Rhoda, always by his side, was the entire back office in the earliest of years – a true co-founder.

As a child of the Great Depression, Manuel was wired to work hard, and that work ethic was amplified when, as a young 29-year-old, married to Rhoda and with 2 small children, he was diagnosed with malignant melanoma and given 6 months to live.

Manuel underwent traumatic experimental surgery and was told that the success of the treatment could only be determined if he survived for 10 years. As the sole income producer, he needed to immediately get to work, despite persistent pain and fatigue, in order to provide for his beloved family. He beat the odds and lived another 60 years to the age of 90!

His business career is storied. Early on he fixed up small buildings that he was able to acquire and sell. He then took a job at the Frederick Schmidt Company, a well-known Cincinnati real estate company, where he quickly began building a reputation as a outstanding young talent. As a result of opportunities that began coming his way, he started the Mayerson Company in 1949, at the age of 27. He was a successful broker who had a special talent for figuring out how to get parties to find agreement, earning him the reputation of a deal closer.

Onward & Upward.

In the early 1960’s, soon after the Federal-Aid Highway Act of 1956 was signed into law, he joined other early visionaries who envisioned how interstate highways would spawn new residential communities that would need convenient shopping.

He, along with these other pioneers, founded the International Council of Shopping Centers, and he began building shopping centers locally -- first strip centers and then indoor shopping malls. Throughout his career he owned, brokered, developed, and managed many types of real estate assets. He became known for his ability to see how something could be accomplished, his civic commitment, his virtuous character, and for making people feel good – traits which his son Neal and grandson Adam carry forth at the company to this day.

Manuel received numerous accolades for his business accomplishments and for the philanthropic accomplishments of the Manuel D. and Rhoda Mayerson Foundation which he and his wife formally established in 1984.
